Penn State College Democast

On this week's episode, O'Neill and Tom have a conversation with our best guest yet, U.S. Congressional Candidate, Marc Friedenberg!

The College Democast heats up as a packed house of five College Dems, including the President and both Vice Presidents, as well as general member Charles Tierney and Communications Chair Josh Weisman; discuss several of the hot button political issues and current events taking place in the past couple of days.  Subject matter includes Brett Kavanaugh's spicy Supreme Court Confirmation Hearing, the success of progressive Massachusetts Democratic candidate Ayanna Pressley, and the recent New York Times op-ed that is purportedly from a senior official in Trump's administration.

The Democast is back for the Fall semester! Tom Sarabok, O'Neill Kennedy, and newly minted Communications Chair, Josh Weisman give you a quick introduction to the College Democrats at Penn State and fervently discuss current political affairs from across the country.

Sam Anawalt, Student Sustainability Coordinator for the Sustainability Institute at Penn State and former President of the Beekeeper's Club and UPUA Director of Sustainability, joins the pod to talk about sustainability and environmentalism at Penn State and several initiatives working to improve the eco-friendly nature on campus. Sam also comments on the national state of environmentalism.

General body member Vincent Meng comes on the show to discuss the Trump Administration's recent tariffs on China and the possible trade war between the two nations. Discussion moves to the realities of the growing Chinese economy for the United States, as well as their burgeoning technological advancements.  Ultimately, Tom and Vincent speak of possible U.S. strategies in combating the rise of China and why Trump has it all wrong.
